Emma Lishness

Emma will be placed with the brand-new Islesboro Community Center, working closely with the executive director to create programs, conduct outreach, and help secure funding.  She will collaborate with the Islesboro School and other island organizations on programming, and will recruit and train volunteers.

Emma, a native of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, received her M.A. in French and International Relations in 2008 from the University of St. Andrews, St. Andrews, Scotland.  She had studied for a year in high school at the Lycee-College des Creusets in Sion, Switzerland.  During her time at St. Andrews, she served as a volunteer with the Barnardos Charity Workshop in St. Andrews, helping to raise 38,000 pounds for Barnardos, a British Charity benefiting children.  She volunteered at Nightline, a confidential listening service run by students for students, and worked as a university tour guide at St. Andrews.   Emma has traveled extensively to countries around the globe.  Starting as an intern, she has worked as an assistant to the conference director at Diversified Communications in Portland, Maine.
