Emma Miran

Emma will serve as a planning and development coordinator between the Town of Stonington and the Stonington Opera House, sharing her planning skills and experience in digital communications.  Some of her goals include creating and sustaining a supportive and positive climate for year-round businesses; researching the potential for an industrial park; acting as a small business consultant for the Town's microloan program; templating and refining websites; researching and coordinating public funding opportunities; and, researching potential collaborations with private, state and federal programs.

Emma comes from Waverly, New York.  She received her B.S. in Applied Economics and Management in 2007 from Cornell University and recently completed an internship with Crist Brothers' Orchard, working primarily with logistics, office management and customer relations.  She received training with a focus on financial services and credit in the Career Development Program at First Pioneer Farm Credit.  During college, she tutored at Corning Community College's Writing Center and worked as a lifeguard for the Red Cross Swimming Program in Waverly, New York.  Emma participated in an Emerging Markets Field Study Program, where her field study consisted of dealing with developing a marketing plan for locally grown produce in South Carolina coastal communities.
