Mary Terry

Mary Terry will be focusing upon affordable-housing issues on both Peaks Island and Cliff Island.  Based on Peaks Island, she will work with Peaks Island HOMESTART, a nonprofit affordable-housing group on Peaks Island and the Cliff Island Corporation for Athletics, Conservation and Education (ACE).  Mary will assist with affordable housing projects that are currently being developed on Peaks Island, and efforts to organize a community project on Cliff. 

Mary, who is originally from Kittery, Maine, received her B.A. in English and her master's degree in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Massachusetts.  She had worked as a director and conference coordinator for the University of Massachusetts for six years before returning to school to pursue her graduate degree.  She was responsible for administering a $2.9 million conference program, as well as coordinating the overall operation of the Summer Conference Housing Program, hosting 20,000 guests each summer.  As a conference coordinator for Westfield State College, she managed a self-sufficient conference and scheduling operation within a public college campus and has operated her own business as a meeting and event planner, arranging events for persons with disabilities.  Mary served as an education and training coordinator for the Association for the Environmental Health of Soils, Inc. and office manager for New England Environmental, Inc., both based in Amherst, and served as the director of residential life at Mount Holyoke College for six years.
