Firefighters' Forum Notes

Since 2003, the Island Institute has convened island firefighters and representatives of various firefighting-related groups and programs in the state to discuss the unique needs facing year-round island and remote-coastal fire departments. These meetings have addressed such topics as training requirements, sources for equipment, volunteer-management, wildfire, and many others, and the meeting attendance has consistently grown to include island and private Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personel, representatives from the United States Forest Service, foresters, and other interested individuals.
