ROCKLAND—Join Archipelago to celebrate the quiet light of winter in Maine with the reception for its new gallery show on Friday, November 23rd. The Island Institute’s store and gallery will host a special artists’ reception from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., during Rockland’s Festival of Lights Celebration. The show, which includes paintings, carved wall pieces, prints, ceramics, wood folk carvings, and more from a variety of Maine artists will run through the winter.
Artists and artwork featured in the winter gallery show include:
- Prints—Kathleen Buchanan and Molly Brown
- Carved wall pieces—Doug Frati
- Paintings—Valerie Aponik, Wendy Newcomb, Nina Devenney, and Sally Loughridge
- Ceramics—Emily Diaz Norton
- Furniture—Christina Vincent
- Wood sculpture—Wayne Robbins
- Wooden bowls and vases—Richard Dunham
The public is invited to stop into Archipelago’s Main Street location on November 23rd to enjoy a selection of treats and hot beverages and see all of the pieces. The gallery show will remain on display through Winter 2019.
The Archipelago Fine Arts Gallery features artists who work with natural, coastal, and working waterfront themes inspired by living and creating art in Maine. Located at 386 Main Street in Rockland, both the store and gallery and are open seven days a week; Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
