Conversations with Maine’s island and coastal small businesses
Episode 4: Maine Small Business Development Centers
Small businesses everywhere are struggling to make sense of the current world. To understand how our local businesses are doing, we are making a series of short, pre-recorded interviews with some of Maine’s island and coastal small businesses. These conversations are designed to check in with businesses, understand their concerns, and hear what’s working well.
In this episode Craig Olson, head of the Island Institute’s Small Business team, chats with Shannon Byers, a business advisor with the Maine Small Business Development Centers and the center director for the location at Coastal Enterprises, Inc., in Ellsworth.
As a business advisor, Shannon has been quick to respond to the COVID-19 crisis, and her emails were one of the first really helpful and practical things in our inboxes.
Not only has she been helping business owners navigate federal aid, but she’s also been working hard to help businesses owners innovate and think creatively right now.
