Christa is a Community Development Officer who, as part of the Island Institute’s Center for Sustainable Communities works to support Maine’s island and coastal communities in achieving equitable, high-speed internet connectivity.

A graduate of Wheaten College in Illinois, Christa has a B.A. in Anthropology and a minor in music, and an M.A. in Intercultural Studies and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Prior to joining the Island Institute, she worked as an educator in Chicago, Bangladesh, and Maine.

Christa’s roots in midcoast Maine stretch back over seven generations. An active member of the community of Bremen, she currently serves serves on her local school board and the Waldo Theatre board of directors. She enjoys playing music in a local orchestra and engaging in outdoor adventures, especially those involving woods and salt water.
