Kristin Garabedian

Community Development Officer – Innovative Fishing Gear

In her role as Community Development Officer with Island Institute, Kristin works in the Center for the Marine Economy with a focus on innovative fishing gear. Her work centers around collaboration with lobster fishermen, partner organizations, and state entities to support the Innovative Fishing Gear Library project led by the Maine Department of Marine Resources.

Prior to joining Island Institute, Kristin worked at Maine seaweed company Atlantic Sea Farms as part of their operations team, Maine outdoor gear company Flowfold, and as gear intern at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. Kristin earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology at the University of New Hampshire.

Kristin lives in the Sebago Lake area and enjoys camping and baking. She is a also a passionate volunteer at an animal welfare organization providing behavior support to adopted and foster dogs.
