Mark Gorski

Peaks Island Fellow
  • Island Institute Fellow

Mark Gorski (Peaks Island Fellow, Home Start): Mark will be joining Peaks Island Home Start, the island’s affordable housing non-profit. Part of the city of Portland, the island will soon be implementing new zoning regulations called ReCode. It is anticipated that ReCode, the first large rezoning in 50 years, will change lot size and distance/height from sea level as well as rolling out other rules influenced by population and climate factors. The fellow’s responsibility will be to understand ReCode, communicate it out to the Peaks Council and homeowners, and support Home Start as they understand the implications of ReCode, stakeholder need, and climate pressures in future affordable housing on the island. Mark will be moving from Brooklyn, NY where he worked in the city’s office of Management and Budget in their Community Development Unit.
