Michele works on the philanthropy team serving in the role of Philanthropy Advocate. In this position, she pairs donor interests with Island Institute initiatives, aligning the goals of supporters with opportunities to maximize the Island Institute’s impact on the coast of Maine. Her region covers much of the Downeast region including Mount Desert Island, Swan’s Island, Cranberry Isles, Deer Isle, and Blue Hill.A Maryland native, Michele worked at Johns Hopkins Medicine’s Home Care Group and Kennedy Krieger Institute, prior to moving to her home on Mount Desert Island. Before joining the Island Institute, Michele spent the previous 22 years working in development for the islands’ nonprofits Acadia Family Center, Camp Beech Cliff, and MDI Biological Laboratory.Michele has a passion for philanthropy and the coast of Maine that she carries with her to the Island Institute. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and fishing with her husband and their dog and creating abstract art.
