Phoebe Walsh(she,her,hers)

Phoebe works with the Island Institute’s Center for the Marine Economy by advancing Island Institute’s marine decarbonization initiatives. She oversees Spark! Grant applications and helps waterfront businesses prioritize their clean energy needs. She also supports Island Institute’s efforts to integrate electric boats into Maine’s working waterfronts.

Phoebe is from Yarmouth, Maine. She studied at Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania and travelled around the world, including time spent teaching English in Malaysia. She received a Master’s degree in Ocean Foods Systems from University of New England where she studied the co-op model as a tool for developing scallop and kelp aquaculture. She worked at Wolfe Neck Oyster Farm in Yarmouth as their assistant manager and managed a nonprofit seafood wholesaler on Martha’s Vineyard where she started a community supported fishery program.

In her free time, Phoebe enjoys gardening, cooking, skiing, and hiking. She lives in Portland with her partner and their cat Boba.
